PPP to finalize alliance with Left on Wednesday


Parkash Singh Badal with son SukhbirSANGRUR: Former Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal led People's Party of Punjab (PPP) will forge an alliance with Left parties on Wednesday for the upcoming elections to the Punjab assembly. Modalities about sharing of seats between PPP and CPI, CPI(M) and a common minimum programme for the elections will be finalized at a meeting to be held in Jalandhar.


"But even after having an alliance, there will be room to accommodate more partners like SAD (Longowal) led by the Barnalas, if the situation so arises," said party president Manpreet Badal.

Manpreet, along with Jalandhar MLA Jagbir Brar, satirist Bhagwant Mann and Abhay Singh Sandhu, the nephew of martyr Bhagat Singh revealed this at Sangrur after addressing a party rally. "Preliminary rounds of talks with Left parties have already been held, while a final round of talks will be held on Wednesday in Jalandhar where we hope to clinch the deal to save Punjab from the clutches of SAD and Congress", said Manpreet, while adding that a four member committee of the party comprising Jagbir, Kushaldeep Dhillon, Abhay and Kuldeep will hold talks with the Left parties. "We are hopeful of having an honourable alliance", he said.
