Social crusader Anna Hazare on Tuesday had declared in his native Ralegan Siddhi village in Ahmednagar (Maharashtra) that he would resume his agitation for an effective Lokpal bill with Hisar bypoll. He also reportedly expressed willingness to go to Hisar and hold a couple of public meetings in Hisar or send a video message to people explaining how the Congress clocked Jan Lokpal bill and urge them not to vote for it.
TOI tried to unravel ground realities by talking to a cross section of people -- advocates, school principals and sarpanches of the villages - who shared their feelings in a unique manner.
Raj Pal Sandhu, principal of a private school, said, "The statement of Anna Hazare will surely affect Hisar byelection. Anna Hazare is a great personality and has shown how to fight against corruption. Major cases of corruption have come to light during UPA government and these will also affect the election."
Rajesh Kumar, principal of another private school in Hisar, said, "During the agitation by Anna Hazare, thousands of people from Hisar supported him and even owners of schools, colleges and businessmen downed their shutters. His comments will surely affect the election results."
Sarpanch of Rawalwas Khurd, Saroj Rani, said, "Anna is a famous personality, but his comments will not work in this election. Voters will vote to only whom they want to elect."
